North Shore

An area of exceptional natural beauty, with an ambiance that stands on its own, the North Shore of Maui is a haven for ocean enthusiasts, fine artists, and free spirits with luxury taste. Frequent trade winds and rainshowers lend to a cooler atmosphere than dryer sides of the Isle, and provide for a backdrop of tropical greenery, especially as one roams deeper into North Shore, entering at Sprecklesville, into Pa’ia Town, Kuau, then up the Road to Hāna into Haiku and Huelo.

Spreckelsville, lined with impressive oceanfront to gorgeous golf course estates and land, is located at the entry point of North Shore Maui. ‘Sprecks’, as locals deem the neighborhood, calls for an upscale beach town lifestyle – with perhaps a round of golf or game of tennis between beach walks and catching waves. As a destination for international kite and windsurfers decade after decade, there is no shortage of world-class athletes making home base of Sprecklesville. For family-friendly beach days, sheltered Baby Beach sits afront Maui Country Club, which encompasses golf and tennis for land lovers. Speckelsville’s central location, close to the beach as well as both luxury and practical amenities such as the Country Club in ‘Sprecks’ and Whole Foods in Kahului, make it ideal for those seeking a down to earth, yet luxury, life by sea.

Just up the Hāna Highway, the little town of Pai’a bursts with life and creativity. Galleries boast the work of local artists, while boutiques capture the heart of stylish Maui residents and visitors on any day of the year. When its time to dine, options range from a handcrafted ice cream as you stroll to sitting down for European tapas and wine at Cafe Des Amis.

Next is the small pocket of Kuau, with its famous landmark of Mama’s Fish House. Situated right before Ho’okipa Beach and Haiku, Kuau’s location is close to both the conveniences of town and the waves of ocean sport enthusiast dreams, making it quite the attractive location.

Lush Haiku and Huelo venture into the jungle and along the ocean bluffs off Hāna Highway, lending to the feel of a tropical, off-grid Maui lifestyle. Within Haiku Town, residents find creature comforts such as a small grocery store, yoga studio, health club, as well as wonderful choices in dining.
